CONSTRUCTION NEWS!

ROAD TO CAMP IS CURRENTLY OPEN

An agreement has been made where Donahoo Street in Kingston (Rock Creek Road in Marshall County) to Cross Point Camp will NOT be closed right now, but will be closed very late in the construction and then only for a few days.

Our road will continue to be open! HOWEVER...please remember the construction that will be going on and please, please, please, slow down, be respectful of the workers, and if you get a chance tell them thanks SO MUCH for leaving the road open! Construction should be in effect for at least five months.

When the road is closed--Bridge replacement work will begin about 1 mile south of Kingston and traffic will be re-routed.

How to get to the camp if the road is closed.

Basically, from the intersection in Kingston, we will have to go to the next major road going south about 2 miles west at flashing light. This road is called either OK70F (aka: Blackland Farm Road) or Enos Road. There is a gas station at this intersection. Then we will have to go south to what is W. Lasiter Road (aka: Whiskey Road), this road ONLY goes east. It is about 1/2 mile before you get to some water-tower standpipes. Towards the east end of this road, there are some steep hills and low water crossings that are dangerous, so do NOT get in a hurry! At the stop sign, you are back to Rock Creek Road and will turn right to head back south.

If coming through Madill, you can actually save a few miles if you will turn right soon after you leave Madill on OK70F (aka: Blackland Farm Road). It turns into Enos Road where it intersects OK32. Then you just go straight south until you get to Whiskey Road or W. Lasiter where you will go back east.

50 years of Cross Point camping

June of 2012 begins the 50th year of our camping ministry on Lake Texoma. We are planning a special celebration soon, so watch for details.

News update on "destination: Cross Point"

Thanks to all those that have been contributing to the building campaign; We now have enough funding to build 2 new cabins with meeting rooms attached. The cabins will have 10 bunks (20 beds) each side and a large meeting room to hold groups. These two cabins will add 80 beds, raising our capacity to 330. Pending final approval from Oklahoma State Fire Marshall and the Army Corps of Engineers, we hope to begin construction after summer camps.

Now, we need to shift our focus to our new Multi-Purpose Activity Building which will give us indoor gym area and hopefully could be set-up for 500 seats for meeting purposes with built-in stage.

If you've not had a chance to donate or pledge funds for these new buildings, contact Ken at 580-221-4240 cell/text, the Ardmore District office at 580-223-2353, or the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation at 800-259-6863.
