Each year, the United Methodist Church in Coalgate has a Spaghetti Dinner the first Sunday in November to raise funds for the annual Operation Christmas Shopping trip that occurs in December. This shopping trip is for children in the community that are in need of clothes. Many volunteers take the trip to Sherman, TX with a bus load of children to shop at J.C. Penney's for clothes for the children. The children look forward to this trip each year where after the shopping trip they eat lunch are fed a lunch at the church while they wait for their clothes to arrive back at the church.
